the BLYTZ TOUR DIARIES

Blytz on tour in NYC, October 2024

Today we began our journey to “New York.” Since arriving to this world, we haven’t quite ventured too far out. If it’s anything like home, we must stay weary of dragons and orcs and creatures of that nature, but so far we have only encountered what the locals here call “tweakers.” Not nearly as scary. Anyway, I heard about this “New York” place; I thought it was a made up place for the movie “Home Alone,” but it has been brought to my attention that it's in “Madagascar,” also. I’m learning a lot day by day in this strange new world, but I miss my home. This “exile” could be much worse, though! Our main mode of transportation is this metal carriage pulled by invisible horses called a “car.” This does lead me to believe that magic exists here. We will be here for many hours it seems, but the scenery is beautiful. I don’t think I mind.

We finally made it! The lights are very pretty and if you look at the skyline and squint your eyes, it’s kind of like a huge castle. Los Angeles, the place where the portal spit us out, is really different! It’s more like mountains and the land is dry. The “Times Square” makes me think of Hollywood and Highland, but way cooler. I think we’re gonna like it here! I would like to know what other places in this world look like, too. I try not to feel sad for the loss of my old life. All these places make me feel like I’m on a wild adventure, which is great! But I can’t help but think that what happened back home is going to have consequences. We made it to our hotel, so it’s time to drop off our instruments and be released into the street. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Please bear with me as we hit multiple taverns and, being that there are a plethora of drink options outside of ale and mead, I intend to try them all. I just simply couldn’t wait to tell you about the outside, and in the morning my memory will have blurred. The second you step out the door, your senses become overloaded with sights and sounds; an overwhelming but beautiful feeling. The first thing I smelled was the pizza. I had it back in LA, but I hear New York City is famous for it. I get why. 10/10. There were so many people; it seems like everyone around us had somewhere to be. I felt a sense of importance because I was here on business, too. We ate at a restaurant that I can’t remember the name of, but I dropped my drink and broke the glass, and Oscar and Seb laughed at me. That was until Oscar dropped his not long after. After dinner, we walked around some more, met the yellow circle man (picture below), saw Times Square, and the “Vampire State Building.” Now I lay down and write to you, feeling fulfilled and very excited for the show tomorrow. Goodnight!

Good morning New York! Today is the day. There’s still so much to see, so we decided to get an early start. Well, I did at least. Oscar took forever in the shower. I walked to a cafe while the boys got up. Being that it was the only moment I had alone, it left me thinking how grateful I am to have made it here. Not everyone gets exiled from their dimension and gets something positive out of it. The show tonight is going to be one to remember. I'm back at the hotel now, it's time to get going! See you at the theatre!

We only just made it to The Triad Theater, but the excitement has already begun!! People were already lined up, and it seemed like they knew who we were when we walked up the stairs. It's a nice feeling to be anticipated. We even got recognized on the street while we were grabbing a snack! I have to get ready now, I think the next time I write we will have played our first show in New York City.

I don’t even have the words. The show was one thing, but it was really the crowd that made it so special. People coming from far and wide for the Orion Experience showed just the same excitement for us. Our set went by in the blink of an eye, but there are some moments I just won’t forget. Our first two songs were a little scary. The crowd was warming up to us, and us to them, and I think nerves got the best of us. It did not last forever. By the time we played “La Beach,” people were dancing and it felt like there was actually competition when we threw a t-shirt into the crowd. My head piece fell off at one point, but you start to not care about little mistakes when you’re playing. The things that go wrong are what makes each show so special and unique. After our set, people crowded around our merch table, which was a pleasant surprise! Being that we were just the opener, we didn’t anticipate the amount of love we would receive. People were asking for autographs, our posters sold out, and we were left with very few t-shirts by the end of it all. I wish we had music published to share with everyone, but the wait for that is nearing its end. We truly fell in love with New York. I wish we didn’t have to leave, but LA is calling us back to its streets again. Until next time, we love you. XOXO, BLYTZ
